Behind the scene at Lamazuna

We love telling you about our products and projects, but perhaps you'd also like to know a little about life at Lamazuna?

Welcome to our eco-place!

As you know, our eco-site project is well on the way to becoming a reality, but in the meantime, we've got very good at organising our working area. It's been a bit like playing a game of Tetris!

We all work in an open space environment, with different areas for different teams. We've also created some more private, cosy spaces built with wood, and a great mezzanine area, so we can have more offices and a meeting room.

Our favourite local carpenters and joiners have even made us some wooden pods for when we need some calm.

A place with positive energy

Everything has been thought out to reduce our carbon footprint in the construction of our eco-place.

Starting with the installation of a water tank in the basement to recover rainwater and reduce our consumption.

Also by choosing low-carbon recycled concrete (which brings a natural freshness to the stock), favoring a wooden frame for the office part.

As well as rice husk insulation to insulate the stock, added to rice straw insulation for the office part, with exterior wood fiber insulation.

We also planted the roof terrace to compensate for the concrete and tar, which has a thermal advantage.

Our permaculture vegetable garden

In the long term, the objective is to cultivate 1 hectare to feed the whole team in our company restaurant.

This year to practice, we started with a 450m² vegetable garden with 4 different cultivation techniques.

Thanks to the crushed material deposited a year ago on the ground, the soil has been nourished which optimizes the harvests :)

We are so happy to see the first vegetables grown.

Everyone in the evening with vegetables grown organically to make their meals in exchange for a few coins deposited in the common pot.

We enjoy ;)

On the planting side, this year no less than 2 hectares of sunflowers have grown on our land, which will then go to the cooperative.

For next year, it will be lavender!

To the end

Even on the parking side, in addition to providing shade, the plantations will end up on our plates (fruits or leaves).

The car parks are vegetated to allow the infiltration of rainwater.

The installation of Canadian wells also makes it possible to temper the offices in summer and winter, in addition to the boiler room supplied entirely with wood chips (from the sawmill just next to the eco-place).

The room was a key point throughout the construction of the building.

The canopies and windows are made in the region, the lights come from Saint Etienne (1h30 drive).

The many craftsmen who participated in the work are mostly based in the Drôme.

All the solid wood furniture was designed 5km from our offices.

Our Tiny houses

Our superb Tinys Houses designed 5km from our offices perfectly decorate the land.

The first is a shop to welcome our local or passing customers, the second is about to be converted into a house to receive our resellers in the Drôme.

Zero-waste life at the office

At the office, everyone's aim is to be as zero waste as possible. Think that sounds difficult? It isn't if you're organised!

Each person who joins Lamazuna is given a welcome kit that contains some zero-waste essentials: a drinking bottle, a book all about zero waste, and some Lamazuna products. Zero waste doesn't come naturally to everyone, of course, so we also have training sessions to help us. These sessions are a great opportunity for everyone to share their tips and tell others what they do to reduce waste in their lives.

We have a washing machine to wash tea towels, fabric napkins, and masks made from fabric scraps. It's fair to say that we've got very good at recycling and upcycling!

There are baskets available in the kitchen to take with us and avoid unnecessary packaging when we buy groceries, breakfast or lunch. As for packaging that can't be avoided, it's always sorted and recycled if possible.

For our IT equipment, we mostly buy reconditioned and second-hand. We do the same with our small household appliances (kettles, induction hob, oven, etc.). And if this isn't possible, we buy from French suppliers!

Lamazunians who are interested can get a weekly organic veggie basket, filled with local produce, delivered to the office. We also host mobile grocery vans that sell produce loose, as well as our local market gardener, so we can get plenty of fresh and delicious food without having to use transport or create any waste!

Vegan baking Friday Funday

An afternoon hike in the Vercors mountains

Our "Friday Fundays"!

On Fridays, we finish work at noon, so a group of Lamazunians decided to organise "Friday Fundays". We've gone hiking in the Vercors mountains, learned how to climb, and some of our sports enthusiasts have even gone canoeing on the Drôme river. We've also held activities at our offices, such as vegan baking sessions, sewing lessons, and a wooden-pallet workshop! We're open to all ideas! These Friday afternoon activities are a brilliant way to get to know each other outside work and enjoy some quality time together.
